Men’s Fashion: Trends for SS15

Earlier this year was Men’s Fashion Week. It was the biggest of its kind and some of the biggest designers such as Burberry Prorsum, Balmain and Versace featured on the catwalks. Here at Bigboys.co.uk, we like to know what’s occurring in the fashion world so here we share some of the reported SS15 trends for menswear.

Luxury Loungewear
‘Sports luxe’ has been prominent in women’s fashion for a number of seasons. And now we see this trend evolve for men’s clothing in the form of luxury loungewear. For those who love nothing more than sport on the telly, a takeaway and an ice cold beer, prepare to lounge around guilt-free. It’s time to stock up on t-shirts, hoodies and joggers.

Macs and Jackets
Big slouchy macs are in and they are great if you have height on your side. For the big and tall man, a slightly oversized mac can look fantastic. But if you’re vertically challenged, it’s important to layer well (lighter colours on the inside and darker colours on the outside) to create a slimline effect.

Stripes
Stripes are always sound but in SS15, they’re making a solid comeback a la Francais. According to Gucci and J.W Anderson, the French inspired Breton stripe is landing on our shores. The Breton garment was born in late 80s France with exactly 21 stripes; one for each of Napoleon’s victories. To get complete authenticity, choose a boat neckline for a nautical look. But remember, vertical stripes can be much more flattering for a plus size man than horizontal stripes. If you do wear horizontal stripes, choose a smaller stripes (and toned down colours) and use layers to break up the harsh angles.
